With Mother’s Day just around the corner, we’ve put together some ideas from just a few of our favourite small businesses to treat the special women in your life (or, feel free to send it onto your other half - hint hint!)

The card

Firstly, a big shout to my lovely friend Casey at Festive Fingerprints. Her Christmas and Easter fingerprint card kits are a sell out each year, but she also creates a range of cards for other special occasions – including Mother’s Day!

This adorable card comes with an ink pad ready for stamping with your little one’s fingerprints and is a special way to say thank you to the important lady (or ladies!) in your life.

‍The flowers

Gift something different this year with a bunch of Baked Blossoms from The Happy Blossoms.

A home-grown and family-run floral business based in Dorset, they create bouquets of colourful dried flowers, each made by hand and designed to bring joy to your home.

‍To pamper

Quickly becoming a cult product, Space Masks are award-winning, self-heating eye masks. Sold in boxes of five or seven masks in jasmine, rose or chamomile scent, they promise ‘interstellar relaxation’ – and what mum doesn’t need that?

‍My January Baby creates washable face wipes in a range of lovely fabrics that would please any mother looking to reduce her environmental impact. They also make a whole range of pretty eye masks, hair accessories and face masks, all of which would make a beautiful, eco-friendly gift.

To eat and drink

Recently credited as ‘the best brownies we have ever tasted’ by BBC Good Food Magazine, Gower Cottage Brownies are made in Wales fresh-to-order and sent via post. Choose from Original, Chocolate Orange, Triple Chocolate or Coffee and Walnut Brownies, or even Blondies – and with gluten-free and vegan options readily available, they’re guaranteed to please.

For the ultimate brunch, just take a look at the Breakfast en Bread ‘Bloody Hell Mary!’ box.

Since 2014, their chefs have been preparing their loaded bread loaves using only the very best ingredients they can find.

This box includes two Breakfast En Breads, herbs and seasoning, Pickle House Spiced Tomato Mix, 2 Sapling Vodka doubles and chilli flakes. They say that 'brunch simply isn’t brunch without Bloody Mary’s' – and who are we to argue with them?

The rise of gin over recent years has been incredible, and my absolute favourite is Tinkture, ‘the clean alcohol company’.

Made using their secret blend of fresh, handpicked David Austin English roses, their Cornish Rose Gin is available to buy in miniatures, full size bottles, refill packets and as part of an incredible range of cocktails. Delicious!

‍To wear

We love The Bright Co’s range of colourful pyjamas for both grown ups and children – and we’re sure that any mother in your life will too!

They’re ethically produced using super-soft GOTS certified organic cotton, and promise that pulling on new, luxurious sleepwear really can make bedtimes more of an everyday indulgence. And we agree!

Us mothers often dress our children so nicely that we wish we had their clothes ourselves – and this is exactly how Eddie & Bee have approached their leggings. In incredible bright prints, they're made with 100% organic cotton and are printed with low impact dye. Plus, they come in both children and adult size, so perfect for twinning!

‍The gifts

Honey & Toast’s beautiful range of leather bags and cardholders are made with the best of British craftsmanship, designed in London and made by hand in Somerset. What makes these bags extra special is that they can be personalised with drawings or handwriting for the ultimate keepsake accessory.

Although their Shaftesbury shop is unfortunately currently closed, The Botanical Candle Co are offering their huge range of luxurious glass jar scented soy wax candles to buy online, along with reed diffusers, wax melts and homewares. Not only do they smell incredible, they’re beautifully presented - and we don’t know many mums who don’t love a candle!

Kirsty started Mama Days during her daughter’s nap times to sketch their little moments and memories together. She illustrates simple but beautiful outlines of mothers and their children, with titles including ‘hold on’, ‘us two’ and ‘on my hip’. One of her designs framed would be perfect for a new mum.
