With Valentine’s Day just a couple of weeks away, we’ve put together a simple play idea to fit the theme.
Although Valentine’s Day is traditionally for the grown ups, in recent years we’ve seen the growth of ‘Galentine’s Day’ and also more focus on including little ones in the celebrations.
As it falls on a Sunday this year, I know lots of you will be having heart-shaped foods, reading books all about love and even dressing in your favourite themed clothes!
So these roses not only make a lovely little activity, but would also make an ideal decoration for anything fun you plan to do with your day.
What you'll need:
- Your favourite colour dough
- A rolling pin
- A rose cutter (I bought this one from Lakeland!)
Firstly, use your rolling pin the roll out your choice of dough. The thinner the better!
Use the rose cutter to stamp out as many roses as you would like
Fold the dough in half, length ways
Next, roll them up - and you've made beautiful roses!
We then added some green play dough stems, but you could use painted lolly sticks as an even easier alternative.
If you decide to give our dough roses a go, please do tag us on social media - we'd love to see you sharing a little love this Valentine's Day!
